The firm was established 2006 by Heidi Channing with a small number of clients and has grown from strength to strength, mainly through word of mouth. In 2013 Heidi was joined by Lindsey Wright who brings her wealth of general practice experience and expertise dealing with businesses of all sizes. We are a down to earth firm with motivated staff who believe that the key to providing a quality service comes from a desire to truly respond to individual needs we With almost 70 years of experience with in the team we pride ourselves on being able to offer you a service that will take the stress out of your accounting needs whilst keeping it affordable.
Meet The Team
Lindsey Wright FAAT FCA
Director
I joined Blue Lias in 2013 from managing another large regional firm and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2010. I have been in practice now for over 19 years, as a partner I have gained a wealth of experience and knowledge in the years since.
I look after a large portfolio of clients, primarily working with local owner-managed businesses to whom she provides expert accounting, tax and business advice.
I work with clients in a wide range of sectors including retail, hospitality, construction and engineering.
Louise Turner MAAT ACCA
Client Manager
Louise joined Blue Lias in September 2016 as an apprentice trainee accountant. She is now a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians and fully qualified as a Certified Accountant, ACCA early in 2023.
Louise has her own protfolio of clients providing accountancy services, focusing on accounts preparation and compliance, bookkeeping solutions, corporate tax planning, VAT returns and personal tax work. She supports clients with their Cloud Accounting software such as Xero.
She has extensive experience in Payroll and provides supports to the Payroll Manager.
Debbie Shields FAAT
Client Manager
Debbie joined Blue Lias in 2018 as a Senior Accountant. Debbie has more than of 25 years’ of extensive experience in this role and has been awarded a Fellow Membership of the Association of Accounting Technicians.
Debbie is responsible her own portfolio of clients, providing accountancy services, VAT and Management Accounts across a wide variety of sectors. She also works closely with the director to assist her with their portfolio of clients.
Michelle Turner
Client Manager
Michelle has a long family background in accountancy, and has worked in both practice and commercial sectors. She is a member of The Association of Accounting Technicians, having qualified in 2001, and working around her family commitments when her children were young, has been in the profession since 1994.
She prepares accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, together with personal and corporate tax matters. She also has extensive experience in regular payroll and VAT compliance. She joined our team in April 2024 as part of the expansion of the practice.
Rebecca Milburn AATQB
VAT & Bookkeeper
Rebecca is a qualified bookkeeper with AAT. She comes from an industry background carrying out bookkeeping for small business owners and limited companies.
Rebecca will be assisting us with bookkeeping for our clients and helping to prepare their VAT returns. She has a keen eye for detail and enjoys the challenge of using her accounting skills to help businesses keep their financial records accurate and up to date.
Rebecca has lived in Somerset all her life. In her spare time, she enjoys walking her dog along the canal near home or further afield on the Quantocks or visiting beaches along the south coast of Devon or Dorset.
Alison James
VAT & Accounts Assistant
Alison joined Blue Lias Accounting in November 2024 as an Accounts Assistant.
She has worked in the retail and commercial sector as an Accountant for over 30 years. Moved to working into an accountancy practice 4 years ago.
Alison is involved in bookkeeping, VAT returns, payroll, accounts preparation as well as supporting our clients with their Xero and QuickBooks software.
In her spare time, she enjoys travelling the country exhibiting her dogs at championship shows.
Vicki Stannard
Trainee Accountant
Joined Blue Lias in March 2024 as Accounts Assistant. Vicki has worked in accounts roles in Industry and in Accounting firms for 10 years. Vicki is currently working towards her Level 4 AAT.
Vicki is involved in accounts preparation, bookkeeping, VAT returns, personal tax work and Payroll.
Katie Groves MAAT
Trainee Accountant
Joined Blue Lias in November 2024 as Accounts Assistant. Working in finance since 2018, she achieved MAAT status in 2023 after completing AAT Level 4.
Katie is involved in accounts preparation, bookkeeping, VAT returns, and personal tax work.
Chloe Hellyar
Payroll
I’m Chloe from Yeovil. Since 2019, I’ve been passionate about making sure everyone gets paid accurately and on time. I love working in Payroll and enjoy the challenge of keeping everything running smoothly.
Lisa Langley
Receptionist and Client Coordinator
Lisa passed her AAT final exams in 1993 while working at Albert Goodman Chartered Accountants in Taunton. She has worked as an accounts assistant for various companies in accountancy practice and in industry.
Lisa was born in Taunton and spent most of her life in Somerset, but has also lived in Devon, Gloucestershire, Surrey and Leicestershire for short periods of time, where her husband had short-term jobs. She is settled in Somerset now and enjoys walks in the countryside and listening to music. In her spare time she does book-keeping for her sister, who is self-employed, and some gardening for a neighbour. Lisa likes doing sudoku and watching motorsport.
